Daryl graduated from GVSU and attended the University of Michigan for graduate work in printmaking and sculpture, studying with Takashi Takahara. He has traveled the world extensively.. Most of his art ventures to date have been commissions with sculptures in five continents. For the past 30 years, Daryl used his engineering degree as his primary source of income and doing art as time would allow. He suffered a horrific accident five years ago which left him fighting for his life. After five years and 10 surgeries, he can walk again. During his rehab, he reinvented artwork as his primary career.
